October was Breast Cancer awareness month and we raised almost £100 for Coppafeel! a breast cancer awareness charity which focuses on promoting early detection of breast cancer, by encouraging women under 30 to regularly check their breasts.
The Môn CF men and Cuffed-In Coffee men took part in Movember to raise money and awareness for men’s health and raised over £700!
A bit about boobs…
The whole team wore it PINK for Breast Cancer Awareness Day (21st October), and we hosted an awareness session at The Hive Holyhead, where two NHS Clinical Nurse Breast Specialists delivered an informative session on checking your breasts.
The Holyhead Knit and Natter ladies kindly knitted a load of boobs for the session, which we then donated to our local Health Visitors and will be used to support mothers to breastfeed.
With the funds that we have raised CoppaFeel! could:
· Send 1,500 witty messages to prompt people to check their chest via our free text reminder service.
· Allow CoppaFeel! to provide 210 young people with a handy shower sticker to act as their monthly reminder.
· Send 9 healthcare awareness packs to get GP practices on our side, spreading the message with us with the help of our materials.
Some Mo’ News…
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.
Some of them took it upon themselves to grow a Mo’ and other Mo’ved for Movember. Lefty walked an impressive 150 miles. Our donation could help save a father, a brother, a son, a friend, a partner, a man’s life. The money raised will help change the face of men’s health.
Thanks to everyone in the community for your donations and support with the fundraising!
