Here's this week's timetable showing what's happening in the Pod between Monday 21st and Friday 25th October, including a Games Morning hosted by the 'Let's Talk' mental health support group. Every session on the timetable is open to all residents - come along and get involved with what's going on in your community!
On Thursday 10th October we marked World Mental Health Day 2019 with a well-attended coffee morning held in the Pod. It was great to see so many new and familiar faces coming together to share their experiences and, of course, enjoy some lovely cakes!
However, this event was not a one-off. In fact, the Pod plays host to a weekly ‘Let’s Talk’ mental health drop-in session held every Thursday at 10am until 1pm. A qualified counsellor is on hand if extra support is needed, but residents are welcome to make the most of the comfortable seating, a steady stream of tea and coffee, and an excellent opportunity to connect with others in their community who may be facing similar barriers.
‘Let’s Talk’ has its own Facebook page linked here: https://www.facebook.com/letstalkholyhead/.
Here’s what else is happening in the Pod this week:
Over the past three years, the Pod – based on Market Square in Holyhead – has established itself as a popular spot for the town’s young people to meet, socialise, and take part in both informal activities and structured sessions. With a total of 372 registered members and an average of 35 young people attending every weekday, it is clear that the Pod is having a real, positive impact on the community it serves.
With this in mind, we are excited to share the news that the Pod is in the process of evolving to encompass a wider range of users. From now on, between the hours of 9am and 3pm every weekday, the Pod will be open to the community to be used as YOU see fit. Residents of all ages are welcome, from babies and toddlers to the Knit ‘n’ Natter group. Existing community groups are encouraged to make use of the Pod’s facilities, but we are also keen to meet with individuals to discuss the issues affecting them. Our drop-in sessions can then be tailored to tackle these issues and bring people with shared interests together.
