Mon CF awarded 5 community groups in Holyhead a total of £5,000 thanks to funding from its Local Conversation Project. The successful organisations and groups submitted applications for funding of up to £1,000 towards activities and development.
When Mon CF’s Community Chest Fund was launched this year, there was overwhelming support from the community. Local Holyhead groups and organisations quickly submitted applications to the fund outlining their proposals and stories.
A flurry of activity and excitement amongst committee members soon occurred as a huge number of applications were received. The committee consists of community representatives; funding for the community decided by the community.
Unfortunately not every bid was successful, however there was strong support for all and there was a definite sense of need amongst the community for funding.
The successful applicants were: Plas Road Allotment Association, Kid’z’Ink, Parents and Friends of Clwb Cybi, Gwelfor Majorettes and Holyhead Autumn Activities Club. A great sense of community spirit and positive wellbeing was the driving force behind the organisations applications. An event was held at The Pod to award the community groups and organisations their cheques – see image above–
We'll be following their journeys and telling their stories of how the fund benefitted them. Applications will open shortly for the next round of Mon CF's Communty Chest Fund.
