Why did you come to Môn CF?
I’d heard that Môn CF could give me the support I needed to find work. I was lacking in experience and had been told that Môn CF could allocate an Employment Support Mentor to me who would help to give my CV a boost, improving my chances of competing in the local job market.
Did you do any training?
Yes. I was considering going to work in the Childcare sector as this is something that my family are involved in. With this in mind, my Mentor booked me onto an Emergency First Aid course. She put me on the Journey to Work programme where I was supported to prepare for my driving theory test. The programme also funded my provisional driving licence.
Did you do any volunteering or work experience?
Yes, I completed a few weeks’ work experience over the festive period at Tesco. During this time, I continued to meet with my Mentor who made me aware of suitable vacancies and helped me to fill in application forms.
What are you doing now?
Following my work experience, I am now employed by Tesco for twenty-two hours per week. Even though I’m working, I still keep in touch with my Mentor. She updates me on opportunities within the Childcare sector, and we discuss my options for the future, for example, apprenticeships and returning to education.
What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?
The support Môn CF have on offer is great. With Môn CF you’re not alone – rather than just going away and looking for jobs by yourself, they have people who will help you to find specific opportunities based on your interests, and they provide the training you need to access them.
