John WolseyWhy did you come to Môn CF?

I came to Môn CF because I needed a job – I had been out of work for almost three years and I wanted to retrain and move away from the catering industry, where most of my previous jobs had been. I was interested in doing security work, and went to Môn CF as a starting point.

Did you do any training?

Yes, I completed a five-day Security Industry Authority (SIA) course, and Môn CF helped me get my licence. I also signed up to the Journey to Work project, where I got support to practise for my driving theory test.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

No, but Môn CF helped me to secure interviews with local employers in the security industry, which led to me getting part-time work at the National Eisteddfod held in Bodedern this summer.

What are you doing now?

I am currently self-employed following a successful summer of working as a Security Officer at lots of different events. I have travelled around the UK working at Glastonbury Festival, Latitude Festival, V Festival, Truckfest, Henley Royal Regatta, and Reading Festival. I have also worked as a Door Supervisor more locally in pubs in Caernarfon.

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

They really helped me get to the place where I wanted to be – without Môn CF I would probably still be unemployed or in a job I wasn’t happy in. I didn’t have a CV when I first came to Môn CF, but my Employment Support Mentor helped me to make one which I can now update with the work I have been doing. I’m very happy in my job and I have made lots of memories, including meeting celebrities such as Joe Calzaghe!
