Why did you come to Môn CF?

I came to Môn CF because I had heard great things about them helping local people into work and I hoped they could help me too!

Did you do any training?

Yes, I gained the QA Level 2 Award in Principles of Manual Handling. Môn CF also put me on the IOSH Working Safely course and supported me to pass the Health, Safety and Environment test at their own test centre in Holyhead. These two things together led to me getting my CSCS card – my ticket into the construction industry.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

I used to volunteer with Môn CF’s Environmental Team when I was in school, planting and cutting grass in the sunken gardens on Newry Beach and other local areas. That’s how I knew to come to Môn CF when I had left school and was looking for employment.

What are you doing now?

When I came to Môn CF I knew I wanted to go into the construction industry. After helping me to get my CSCS card, my C4W+ Mentor supported me to apply for a Jobs Growth Wales vacancy through the Careers Wales website. I had an interview and I am now employed as a General Labourer with Alternative Cleaning Solutions (ACS), with 50% of my wages funded by the Welsh Government as part of the Jobs Growth Wales scheme.

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

The best thing about Môn CF is how well they communicate with their participants and how much they help you. It’s a great place to learn new skills and find out about local opportunities.
