Why did you come to Môn CF?
I came to Môn CF because I was unemployed and looking for work in the sport and leisure industry. I had some experience, but a friend suggested I go to Môn CF to find out more about the training and job opportunities they have on offer.
Did you do any training?
Through Môn CF I completed the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and the ASA Level 1 Swimming Assistant qualification. These certificates made all the difference when I was applying for jobs in my chosen sector.
Did you do any volunteering or work experience?
My Employment Support Mentor told me about an opportunity in Amlwch Leisure Centre where Môn CF would fund my wages for sixteen weeks. I was offered an interview, and got the job based on the combination of my newly-gained qualifications and my passion for sport and leisure.
What are you doing now?
Following a successful period on Môn CF’s scheme, I’m now employed directly by Anglesey County Council as a Recreational Assistant at Amlwch Leisure Centre. Môn CF’s Self-Employment Advisor also supported me to start up my own small business, ‘Dedikate’, which runs HIIT fitness classes in the village hall in my hometown of Cemaes.
What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?
The best thing about Môn CF is that what they have on offer opens up doors to amazing opportunities. The staff are approachable and welcoming, and the atmosphere is very relaxed.
