Why did you come to Môn CF?

I came to Môn CF for help with finding a job. I’d heard that I could do courses with them and they could help me to fill in job application forms.

Did you do any training?

Yes, I did a few short courses like First Aid, Manual Handling and Fire Safety. I also did a couple of longer courses – forklift and pool lifeguard – which opened up my career options. I received support towards my driving theory test and attended a course on basic car maintenance.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

A local building firm, DU Construction, advertised a vacancy on the Careers Wales website. I already had a bricklaying qualification and CSCS card, so this was a really suitable opportunity for me. My Môn CF Employment Support Mentor helped me to fill in the online application form and arranged for me to have a two-day work trial with DU to build up my confidence on a building site. This led to me being offered a position with them as part of the Jobs Growth Wales scheme for young people aged between sixteen and twenty-four who are unemployed.

What are you doing now?

I’m now working full-time as a labourer for DU Construction which I’m really happy about.

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

Môn CF gave me all the support I needed to do what I wanted to do. They helped me to write a CV, which meant I could apply for jobs and get interviews and eventually get a job.
