Why did you come to Môn CF?
I came to Môn CF for help to update my CV. I’d recently finished college and was struggling to find work, so I was also interested in learning about what courses and voluntary work I could do.
Did you do any training?
Yes, I followed a course of work-based learning in Office Administration & Customer Service alongside a work placement on Môn CF’s reception. This looks great on my CV and proves how much I learnt while volunteering.
Did you do any volunteering or work experience?
When I first came to Môn CF, my Mentor and I agreed that a work placement would give me a chance to build on what I already knew and to develop new skills. An opportunity came up to volunteer on Môn CF’s reception three days a week, which I took. I really enjoyed my placement with Môn CF – I learnt how to deal with customers in person and over the phone, and learnt to do lots of basic administration tasks. My confidence soared. I stayed at Môn CF for six months before my Mentor told me about another opportunity at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi.
What are you doing now?
When my Mentor told me about an opportunity to have a work placement at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi I saw it as a chance to gain further experience in a different setting. I assisted on the reception desk, being the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors. After twelve weeks of volunteering I was offered a paid position as a School Support Officer for twenty-five hours per week. Now I’m doing something that I love within my own community.
What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?
The best thing about Môn CF is the people who work there – they’re so friendly. They helped me to get the work experience I needed to move forward, which led to me finding my dream job.
