Why did you come to Môn CF?

I moved to Holyhead from Russia in 2015 to live with my husband who unfortunately passed away late last year following his battle with cancer. I came to Môn CF with an open mind – I had previous experience within the catering industry and as cabin crew, but I was happy to consider other types of employment. I wanted help to make a CV, and I was keen to attend courses that would improve my chances of getting a job.

Did you do any training?

Yes, I completed all of Môn CF’s “fundamental” training, including First Aid, Health & Safety, Manual Handling and Fire Safety. I also completed a number of vocational courses, including the NHS’s ‘Step into Work’ programme and the UKCPAS Level 1 Certificate in Industrial Cleaning Skills. Môn CF helped me to pass my driving theory test, and they gave me practical driving lessons too.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

Yes, I’m currently on a six-week work placement in Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Catering Department as part of the ‘Step into Work’ programme. Even though I’m working now, it’s important to me to keep developing my skills.

What are you doing now?

I’m working for Floorbrite Cleaning Services in Holyhead Port – at my interview they were really impressed with all the training I’d done with Môn CF, especially the cleaning course. I work day and night shifts, and I’m always happy to help out. I’m proud that Floorbrite show faith and trust in me.

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

The best thing about Môn CF is the staff. They are polite, friendly and considerate, and they have helped me to build my confidence. Lefty is a good person. He understands me and explains everything clearly. Through Môn CF I have met new people, improved my English skills and – most importantly for me – found a job. I am very grateful, and I would recommend anyone to go to Môn CF.
