Amanda GaskinWhy did you come to Môn CF?

I wanted to get into work and had heard Môn CF could help me.

Did you do any training?

Yes loads, including First Aid, Safeguarding, Stress Management and Risk Assessment. I also did the HABC Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry course, which allowed me to get my SIA licence. I really enjoyed all of the training – I sometimes struggled with reading and writing, but everything on the courses was explained so well that I understood it all.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

Yes, I volunteered with Pantri Pobl Food Bank and Clare’s Shoes, and I helped out on a clothes stall on the market with Môn CF. I also did a work placement on the Facilities team at Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley. These experiences gave me a massive boost – I hadn’t worked before, so volunteering helped to build my confidence and taught me how to deal with people professionally.

What are you doing now?

After gaining my SIA licence and working with Streamline Security at the National Eisteddfod in Bodedern, I was offered a job as a Security Officer with Securitas based in Holyhead Port. I am loving every minute of being in work.

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

Môn CF opened doors for me and gave me the confidence to walk through them. Going to Môn CF and getting my SIA licence and a job was the best thing I have ever done. My family are so proud of me.
