Why did you come to Môn CF?

I was encouraged by the team at Amlwch Jobcentre Plus to go and see Môn CF as they could help me with finding work, gaining qualifications and learning to drive. I was attracted by the prospect of getting some extra help, and I was looking forward to meeting new people on the courses.

Did you do any training?

Yes, my Employment Support Mentor booked me onto Health & Safety and Manual Handling courses held in Parys Training, and I also attended weekly driving theory sessions in Amlwch. Another course I enjoyed was Confidence Building & Interview Skills which helped me a lot – I met some great people on the course, one of whom now works with me in the Co-Op.

Did you do any volunteering or work experience?

Yes, I volunteered in the Community Shop in Amlwch, where I learnt about creating displays and rotating stock. This experience was very important in terms of learning to deal with the public, building my confidence, and getting myself into a routine ready for work.

What are you doing now?

Môn CF supported me to apply for a job in the Co-Op in Amlwch, which I saw as a chance to put my Interview Skills training into practice. To my surprise, I got the job! I am now a Customer Team Member, working on the tills and helping with other day-to-day tasks such as stock rotation. I never expected to enjoy it so much, but I absolutely love it!

What do you think is the best thing about Môn CF?

The best thing about Môn CF is the support they gave me to find work. I also really value how much they helped me to prepare for my job interview – it was exactly what I needed at the time. I honestly don’t believe I’d be in work today without Môn CF’s help.
